Simplify Your Clothing Closet

August 30, 2020 by Ruth Hadlock

How would it be to look at your closet and feel pleased?

Streamlined Space, Streamlined Solutions, Ruth Hadlock

Streamlined Space, Streamlined Solutions, Ruth Hadlock,

  • Take everything out of your closet
  • Sort into categories
  • Only keep items that support you in your life today
(Ask yourself “Powerful Questions Whether to Keep or Donate”)

TIP: Your gut will tell you if items reflect your current life, not who you used to be or who you want to be

  • Relocate off-season clothes to storage
  • Put categories away in accessible homes
  • MAINTENANCE: Place a donation bin in your closet so clothes can be removed the moment they are a “no”.

Keeping the Memories; not the Items

March 18, 2020 by Ruth Hadlock

A majority of my clients express angst over having an excessive amount of tangible memorabilia (from their childhood or of their late parents).  My clients don’t know what to do – they don’t want to throw the items away, yet they don’t want the items cluttering up their home or living inside boxes in which they never look.

TIP: Have you considered taking photos of memorabilia?

Imagine the freedom of letting go of the items and yet still having the cherished memories as you sit down and look through the pages of your album…

Are you drowning in a sea of paper? Would you like an iR.A.F.T. ©?

March 18, 2020 by Ruth Hadlock

Place EVERY paper that enters your home in an “inbox”.

  • No other papers go in there (only new incoming papers).
  • Once a week, sort papers into 4 piles by asking:
  • “What do I need to do with this paper?
    • R- Read it?
    • A- Act on it?
    • F- File it?
    • T- Toss it?”
  • DON’T get sidetracked into “doing” action items.
  • Take “Read” to the location where you actually read.
  • Put each “Action” in its own clear file.  Create an appointment to complete Action.
  • File & toss.
  • Typically, this takes 10 minutes.
  • Do this for 1 month & experience how easy it is to keep track of papers!

Can we talk about perfectionism?

March 17, 2020 by Ruth Hadlock

The goal is NOT to have perfect order 100% of the time.

The goal IS to have systems in place to restore order in a timely fashion, so that life looks like this:

Messy / Restore Order / Messy / Restore Order.

That is REALISTIC and DOABLE.

Perfection / Perfection / Perfection / Perfection

is NOT.

Look around your home or office.  Can you restore order in a short time frame? What systems do YOU have in place to restore order?

Visit my website or email me for ideas.  I read every email I receive.

How to Get Off Junk Mail Lists

October 24, 2018 by Ruth Hadlock

Instead of daily sifting through junk mail, BLOCK its arrival!

Streamlined Space, Streamlined Solutions, Ruth Hadlock privacy policy secret tip

  1. First, go to dmachoice.org to prevent being added to Direct Marketing Association mailing lists (comprises 80% of marketing mail).  This costs $2.
  2. Next, you must remove yourself from lists you’re already on (due to previous purchases) by contacting companies directly:
  • Go to each company’s websites and email customer service or search “privacy policy” to email them (secret tip!)
  • Dmachoice has member companies’ information on their website.
  1. Go to optoutprescreen.com to opt out of insurance & credit offers.

I’ve successfully done this for many clients with a great reduction in junk mail within 8 weeks!
